History of the 91st Princess Louise's Argyllshire Highlanders

£75.00

Product description

Published in 1894 this hardback book is in a fair condition for its age. There is some dogging to the edges and corners of the hardback red cover, including to the spine, and the red has faded on the spine and has dark stains around the edges of the cover, as well as some chips and bad staining to the back of the cover. The inside front pages include a small label and price written in pencil from a previous book seller and a handwritten dedication in blue ink, which reads "Philip Tiloose Jan. 1940". The stitched binding is visible, especially on the inside front and back pages and pages 33 to 43 are becoming loose, though are still just about held in place. There are some full colour plates within, all of which have a protected sheet of tissue paper over them apart from the one beside the inside cover page (which can be seen in one of the accompanying photographs). There are some small brown marks to the page block and to some of the pages, but otherwise the pages, their text and the illustrations are clean, apart from some, possibly water damaged related, stains to the inside front and back pages. The quality of the book is reflected in the price, with similar copies of the book on AbeBooks starting at over £110.00.
