By A.F.Mignet, published by Hunt and Clarke in 1826. Pasted onto the rear end papers are newspaper cuttings, the first of which is entitled "The Franco-German War" and although undated, commences with an explanation that it is a resume of the events of sixteen years earlier. The second article on "The Siege and Commune of Paris", also undated, says it is based on the reports of Mr. E.B.Washburne who as the United States Minister to France was present during the disorder.

This is Volume I of a two volume set, in good used condition, half-leather binding with marbled paper, marbled end papers and marbled edges to the block.

Gold tooling to spine, title label missing. Damage to leather at head of spine and usual wear to edges of boards and corners. Book plate has been removed from inside front board leaving an area of damage to the paste down, and owner's name and pencilled name on free end papers. Block and binding tight.
