Complete in 22 vols. printed between 1860 and 1865, length varying from 280 to 400pp. Quarter leather, each vol. approx. 165x110x30mm, spines in 6 compartments, raised bands with green and red title labels (3 missing), some vols having ribbon bookmarks, marbled pastedowns.
Overall Good, corners and edges scuffed, some dog-ears.

Honoré de Balzac was a French novelist and playwright. The novel sequence La Comédie Humaine, which presents a panorama of post-Napoleonic French life, is generally viewed as his magnum opus.
