Publisher: Collins, London and Glasgow, 1952. Hardback with dustjacket, 256 pages. Publishing history on reverse of title page at top just states 'First printed 1952' and the 'By the same author' list printed opposite title page just contains 3 titles (Jennings goes to school, Jennings follows a clue and Jennings' Little Hut). Cover, in carmine boards with black titling to spine, is in decent condition with a bump to top of spine and top corners and a little fading down leading edge. Internally, the book is in decent condition commensurate with age, with firm binding and no inscriptions. Some foxing spots to endpapers and title page and light tanning throughout. Some larger foxing/tanning marks between pages 57 and 67. Small closed tears at bottom of pages 224, 225 and 238. The clipped dustjacket is somewhat scruffy with shelfwear, creasing and chipping to all edges, a 2 inch tear with loss on lower spine, further tears to top of front and back edges and top of spine and to leading front edge. Overall, a decent, more than acceptable 1st edition copy of this early Jennings classic story.
