Second edition in English. 8vo, [lxxvi], 387 pp. Spanish and English text on facing pages. Translated by James Y. Gibson into tercets (the original Spanish meter), with lengthy preface and "illustrative" notes. Nicely printed on deckled, laid paper. Journey to Parnassus is the scarcest of Cervantes books, and his own favourite.
Original brown cloth binding with gilt titles and decoration. Some wear to corners and spine ends, spine a little darkened, covers have some light marks. Upper page edges gilt but darkened. Front hinge cracked but binding otherwise sound and square. A pencilled date (1924) above the poem 'To Margarita' printed after the title page. One stamp (owner's, not library) on ffep verso. Endpapers, frontispiece and frontis. tissue guard are tanned and spotted but text pages, as printed on quality paper, are extremely clean and fresh. Overall a good+ copy, possibly very good for its age.
