Magnetism

£90.00

Product description

This book explores the grey area between the developing physical sciences of his time and the nebulous area of Mesmerism and Od, the unifying principle of the universe.
The full title reads “Physico-physiological Researches on The Dynamics of Magnetism, Electricity, Heat, Light, Crystallizaation and Chemism in relation to the Vital Force”. It is part of the complete works from the German second edition and there is a preface and notes from John Ashburner. There are seven treatises on various topics.
Hippolyte Bailliere hardback with no DJ. Full tan leather binding, spine gilded and title in gold within a black segment of the spine. Marbled end pages and page edges. Some indentations, scuffing and marks to the covers. Edges rubbed and corners bumped. Some foxing to front and back end pages, but text clean and firm with good binding.
The conclusion of the book states that that is the end of part 1, inferring that there is a second part and, indeed, the pages quoted in alternative versions are very much greater. There are no illustrations apart from a few line charts in this book.
