Internally the book is in generally clean, bright and firm condition commensurate with age with some light tanning to endpapers, page block edges and text and a few light foxing marks here and there. Illustration at page 44 is loose but present. The author was First Maid in Waiting to the Czarina Alexandra of Russia for 23 years up to the end of the Romanov dynasty in 1918 and this book gives an intimate and well illustrated first hand account of daily life within the Czar and Czarina's immediate circle with the background of the great events during those turbulent and ultimately tragic years.
