A detailed account of the author's garden, extending to just under 8 acres, located by the River Wandle in Wallington, Surrey. The book contains 1,300 engravings, including 24 black and white plates, all of which are present. Green cloth covers with gilt and black titling and decoration, and gilt titling to the spine. The covers have some staining and marking, and the rear board shows signs of a vertical fold (with a split in the rear pastedown). The corners are rubbed and bumped. The gilt on the spine is a bit faded, the head and tail of the spine are heavily worn/split, and there is a 5mm split in the rear spinal margin. The spine and front cover are loose (but attached to the text block at the rear hinge). The ffep and half title page are partially unattached, and the title page and frontis are fully detached. Details of previous owners appear in ink manuscript on the ffep verso, and in pencil manuscript on the half title page. Several internal hinges are starting to split. The pages are tanned, and there is scattered foxing. Overall in only fair condition.
