Marriott Edgar (1880–1951) was a poet, scriptwriter, and comedian best known for writing many of the monologues performed by Stanley Holloway, particularly the 'Albert' series. John Hassall (1868–1948) was an English illustrator, known for his advertisements and poster designs.
In this book the comic verse of Marriott Edgar covers Canute the Great, William Rufus, Queen Matilda, the Fair Rosamond, Richard Cœur de Lion, and Henry the Seventh, and is beautifully complemented by John Hassall’s illustrations.
