Paradise Lost A poem in twelve books.

£35.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

A small book in the Temple Classics series. Soft leather binding with wear to top and bottom of the spine cover. Gilt owl insignia on the front cover and gilt decoration and lettering to the spine cover.. Small oblique tear to the upper margin of the front cover. Publisher’s reproduction of the first edition title page on reverse of front cover. There are some rather touching annotations in a very fine cursive script: On the reproduction title page in red is the name and dedication with the date 1898 and the somewhat enigmatic comment “To commemorate Paradise won 1896”. On the facing page is Wordsworth’s sonnet to Milton. The only other annotation is a couple of lines on the end pages, again in the very small and legible script recording some line numbers. There is a red silk place holder. Frontispiece of author with tissue guard.
A charming little volume
