Pride & Prejudice

WAS £19.99 £11.99

Product description

The story of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy is one of the best-loved in English literature, and surely needs no introduction. Jane Austen's depiction of the society of her day is clear and provides an accurate and humorously critical commentary on its concerns and foibles.

Jane Austen (1775–1817) was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels, which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century.

Our book is the same size as a Penguin paperback, but hard-bound in decorated paper boards with a black cloth spine, on which the title etc are displayed in gilt lettering. Despite its age, the book is only lightly worn externally (slight wear at corners and edges only). Inside, the binding is firm, the pages all clean and bright (except for p.31/2, which is torn with some loss at the bottom of the long edge. A previous owner's name and address are stamped inside the front cover. A very nice, collectable copy of this classic text.
