Saph’s Foster Bairn

£9.99

Product description

Saph’s Foster Bairn
Alfred Colbeck
Onward Publishing Office; S W Partridge & Co, London; nd, ca 1898.
Hardback; 130 x 185 mm; pictorial green boards and spine; 157 pages plus unpaginated advertisements. No dust jacket.
The book is in fair condition. The binding is generally sound though the book is cocked, and there is cracking along the gutter between the front paste-down and free endpapers. The covers are grubby with some wear and bumping to the edges. The ends of the spine are bumped with a little fraying, and very grubby and faded. The front paste-down endpaper has a decorative bookplate with the date 15.2.1898. This has left the ghost of an image on the front free endpaper, also annotated “E Watson” with a mark at the top. Page ends tanned, and tanned internally with some foxing.
The story is Christian fiction of the period concerning an orphaned boy.
