Publisher: Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, London, c1930. Hardback with dustjacket, beautifully illustrated with full page colour plates and numerous b&w illustrations in the text. Rare, especially in jacket. Cover, in light blue cloth boards with gilt titling to spine and front, is in good condition commensurate with age with a little shelfwear and tanning to edges and spine. Internally the book is in generally good, clean and clear condition commensurate with age with bright text and illustrations. Tanning to endpapers. Some very light foxing spots here and there. Binding is reasonably firm although splits have developed at front and rear endpaper joints exposing underlying webbing - however these have not separated and binding is still generally tight with no loose pages. Neat inscription to front endpaper. The rare pictorial dustjacket is in poor but substantially complete condition with general shelfwear, rubbing and creasing to edges and along spine, a five inch tear (with some loss) and creasing to front lower edge, small tears to spine extremities and along edges. A beautifully illustrated book which is rare in any condition especially with a dustjacket containing some wonderful stories selected from Dickens (Tiny Tom, Little Nell, Mr Pickwick, David Copperfield, Little Paul Dombey etc), Shakespeare (The Tempest, As you like it, Mercahnt of Venice, Midsummer Nights dream) and Tennyson (The marriage of Geraint, Dora, The May Queen, The Foresters etc).
