Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie (1934 edition) / May Gibbs

£100.00

Product description

This book is in excellent condition for its age, although the dustjacket has some wear. The dustjacket (as can be seen in the pictures) has some foxing across the back and also in some of the front corners. There is also a 3.5 cm tear at the top of the front of the dustjacket, a couple of nearby tears less than 1cm and a few very minor tears. The boards of the cover are in very good condition, as can be seen in the 3rd & 4th pictures. Internally there is mild foxing on the endpapers and page edges, but the rest of the pages are almost entirely free of foxing. There are occasional flecks, but the pages are remarkably clear and in really great condition considering the age of the book. On the front free endpaper a birthday inscription was inked in 1935, and the binding is loose between pages 30 and 31 at the bottom 5cm of the page. All in all a surprisingly well-preserved copy.

This is a 1934 copy of May Gibbs' classic "Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie", lavishly illustrated with her famous sepia drawings of the gumnut babies, the Banksia men and all the other characters from the Australian bush.
