The Adventures of Odysseus and the Tale of Troy

£14.99

Product description

This is part of “The Children’s Homer” published by G Harrap. It is “Presented by Willy Pogany” who is the artist. There are a number of attractive line drawings and 8 colour plates, one of which, unfortunately, has become detached (it is titled Achilles Victorious and is opposite p 106). Unfortunately also some of the line drawings have attracted an amateur artist who has coloured them. For the most part this colouring is skillful and keeps within the boundaries but this is not universally the case. The end pages are “The Bath of Ocean”, a somewhat diagrammatic map of Greece. There is an owner’s name opposite the title page. There is a little tanning of the margins of the pages. Page trimming rough. The binding, with the exception of the loose illustration and a slight springing of the front hinge internally, is good. The covers of the book are edgeworn.
A first edition of this popular book for a young audience.
