Internally the book is in very good condition. Spine ends and outer corner edges are rubbed. The hinge inside the front board is just very slightly cracked for about 4cms, but the book is still very tight. Coloured illustration opposite p.124 (Dr. Oliver and Mr. Peirce) has 3 neatly repaired tears (see photo). On front free endpaper a piece 6x2cms has been cut out by front top edge. On the half-title page the previous owner's name "Carrick Blair Thompson, Bath '71" has been neatly written in ink, at the bottom of the page there is a pinkish mark (see photo), the rest of the book is in very good plus condition. A very good tight book. 245pp, there is no Index. There are 24 Chapters, included, Geology of Bath District- Prehistoric Man - Saxon, Roman, Norman, Medieval, the Eighteenth Century- the Baths of Bath - Literature in Bath - Architecture - Ecclesiastical Bath - Villages round Bath, and much more. With 57 illustrations of which 32 are superb wood engravings, the remaining are watercolours, oil paintings, sepia drawings, aquatints and drawings, total of illustrations is 57, the aquatints are in colour.
