The Book of Common Prayer [1787]

£140.00

Product description

"And Administration of the Sacraments, and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, according to the Use of the Church of England: Together with The Psalter, or Psalms of David, Pointed as they are sung or said in Churches"

A scarce edition, printed in 1787 by Oxford, Printed at the Clarendon Press, by W Jackson and A Hamilton, Printers to the University : and sold by W Dawson, at the Oxford Bible Warehouse, Paternoster Row, London.

Attractively bound in deep red leather, with gilt decoration, marbled end papers. Unpaginated. It includes charts for fixing the dates of movable feasts such as Easter until 1899.

There is an inscription in the front reading: 'Ann Heath, Tamworth, 1790'.

Clearly a book of considerable age, there is a fair amount of wear especially on the covers and their corners. Some of the internal pages have foxing and yellowing, however the pages are and the binding is reasonably sound. Overall in a very reasonable condition (Fair to Good) for a book that is nearly 250 years old.
