Subtitled: A Holiday Romance for Boys and the Sisters of Boys.
From the Preface:
... It is, indeed, a most exhaustively complete manual for boys of the whole art of love in every relation of life of which boyhood is capable, as village boys' playfellow, brother, child, orphan page's "dear old Eddie," cousin, and bosom friend; all life, brightness, and animation, and innocent joy and tenderness, charming the soft young heart of the uncontaminated boy, and filling it with all the radiance of a heaven of sweet passionate love for all around him, both at home and at school, as with the pretty flush of pleasure papa's holiday gift calls up to his cheek, and with irrepressibly delightful sensations of novelty he enters the glorious new world it opens to his view and (when he may no longer sit up with it in his hand) takes it up to be with him to put under his pillow and dream of.
Contains thirty-six black and white illustrations.
The book shows signs of shelf wear and rubbing to the covers and spine. There are a couple of small stains to the front cover. The edges of the pages are gilded. The pages are clean and the binding is tight although there is a split between the front free endpaper and an illustration page showing the binding. For its age, it is in very good condition.
