A rather battered copy of this originally beautifully produced work, offering "to the architect, the decorator, and the student of ornamental design ... examples of alphabets, numerals and devices ... as may be found practically useful".
Blue cloth, gilt titles to spine, stamped decorative borders front and back. Bumped, boards very worn and scuffed with loss of surface glaze, back board marked; spine ends ragged. Binding shaken, split front inner hinge rather clumsily repaired with tape. First few pp partially/wholly detached, but plates + tissues all secure. Page edges browned (fore-edges uncut, worn), scattered foxing, some grubby marks but plates largely spared. Unpaginated: [x] + 36 monochrome plates (rectos only) in red/blue/green/ochre/brown, each with tissue guard.
