The very attractively designed cover, in grey-blue boards with gilt titling to spine and front and black designs to front and spine and with SPCK motif on back, is in very good, clean, firm and bright condition for its age, with very light bumping to spine extremities and corners. Internally, the book is in good, clean condition with generally clear and bright text pages and illustrations. Hinge is starting to separate at pages 80 and 81 but binding is firm and tight overall and no loose pages. Neat pen inscription on reverse of ffep dated March 11 1883. Some foxing to title page, frontispiece and tissue guard and one or two minor foxing marks in the rest of the book. Overall, this is a very attractive, firm and bright copy of this scarce, early (possibly 1st) edition with 3 lovely b&w plates.
