8 volumes of 12 volume set (one for each month of the year, and day by day within each month) of Butler's Lives of the Saints, printed by Thomas Richardson and Son for the Catholic Book Society between 1842 and 1846. Hardbacks bound in green cloth with gilt lettering on spine; bindings are in very poor condition with spine and front or back cover detached in most cases, and some crude mends with sellotape. Text pages are generally in good condition, with very little foxing. Each volume measures 8.4 x 13.3 cm, with thickness varying from 2.5 to 4.2 cm.

Volumes 1, 2, 10 and 12 are missing.
