Product description

The Magic Key to Charm

Eileen Ascroft

Hurst & Blackett Ltd; nd (1938?).

Hardback; 170 x 215 mm; pink boards with cloth spine; titles in red on spine and front cover; 127 pages. Original unclipped dust jacket. Eight half-tone illustrations.

The book and dust jacket are in poor condition. The jacket is grubby externally and internally, has open and closed tears, and is faded vertically on the front next to the spine and the spine itself. The binding is sound. The book is very slightly bowed outwards. The covers are foxed with some bumping and distortion of the front edge of the front cover. Some fading of the spine of the book. Page ends tanned and foxed with tanning of the front and back matter.

Eileen Ascroft (1914–1962) spent a lifetime in journalism, working for such publications as the Daily Mirror - until she was fired for using the director's office door as a dartboard during a party - and the Evening Standard, eventually assuming responsibility for the promotion and control of a large magazine empire.
“Every woman wants to get the best from life and make the most of her opportunities, appearance and abilities. I believe that Charm is the magic key to happiness and success. And I believe that every woman has the seeds of Charm within her. She has only to learn to liberate it. When my Charm lessons first appeared in the Daily Mirror there were many requests for them in a more permanent form. This book is the result. I hope it will help you and bring you success and happiness.”
