First edition of this translation by the English Catholic priest and theologian, Ronald Arbuthnott Knox (17 February 1888 – 24 August 1957). Ronald Knox was born into an Anglican family and educated at Eton College and Balliol College, Oxford. In 1910 he became a Fellow of Trinity College, Oxford. He became a Catholic in 1917. In 1936 he began his retranslation of the Latin Vulgate Bible, using Greek and Hebrew sources.
This is Volume II of the three-volume translation. Red cloth boards with no dustjacket. Front cover is marked and there is heavy foxing throughout (see photos), corners are bumped, spine is bumped, dented and a little faded, but gilt lettering on spine remains clear. Some light markings (erased?) on front endpaper. A fair condition copy of this highly collectable volume.
