Dated 1831 on title page. Cover, in green half-leather with blue, red, white and grey marbled boards with gilt decorated spine with raised bands, is in fair condition commensurate with age with rubbing to corners, edges and along spine edges. Top quarter of spine cover is missing with tear to top of remaining section and there is a small tear to bottom of spine cover (with minimal loss). The marbling of the boards is is decent condition with a little bit of rubbing here and there. Back board is partially loosened but still reasonably securely attached. Internally the book is in decent and tight condition commensurate with age with generally clean and bright pages throughout. Foxing to frontispiece and title page and further foxing spots here and there in the book, light tanning to endpapers and there is a neat inscription on front free endpaper. Last three pages are partially detached at spine but binding overall is reasonably firm. Overall a decent copy of this 1831 hald leather edition of the 24th volume of the Waverley novels with an introduction and advertisement by Scott dated Abbotsford 1st May, 1831 with attractive illustrated title page and frontispiece.
