The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow [1894]

£19.99

Product description

The 'Albion Edition' published in 1894 by Frederick Warne and Co. Attractively bound in tan leather which has a marbled finish. With gilt decoration and spine lettering. Five raised bands on the spine and black title label. Marbled end papers with gilt highlights, and gilt page edges

'Reprinted from the revised American edition, including recent poems'. It includes the revisions and alterations that Longfellow made for the American edition of his work. It includes a number of early poems written when he was under 19, together with his later poems and a number of poems that he translated from German and other languages. It includes all the perennial favourites, such as Hiawatha.

Unfortunately the front board is separated from the body of the book and the back board has a split along the spine (still attached), There is some rubbing wear to the edges of the boards and the spine is pretty worn and is faded with darkening at the base. However the internal pages are all complete and in a very good clean condition. The gilt edges are lovely and bright. Overall in a very reasonable condition despite the detached front board and spine damage.

Fair to Good condition.
