Part of Bell's Edition The Poets of Great Britain Complete From Chaucer to Churchill, second edition of these two volumes published by John Bell 1784. Printed in Edinburgh at the Apollo Press. Volumes I and II in a single volume. With engraved title pages at start of each. Frontispiece portrait of the poet with tissue guard.

In very good condition for age. Bound in leather with gold tooling to spine, blind tooling to edges of boards, some rubbing and marks to boards, as expected with age and use. Rubbing and wear to spine and corners and label coming loose. Block tight cracking to front hinge internally. Foxing and some marking to pages and end papers. Owner's name on title page, pencil sketch inside rear board.

Note three other similar bindings "The Poetical Works of......" have been listed at the same time.
