2 volumes Pp xxiii + 349 (vol I) and viii + 353 to 682 (vol II) with 70 plates, although the 2 coloured frontispieces are missing. 200 illustrations in the text in black and white both photographs and illustrations, and coloured maps.

Dark blue hardbacks with gilt lettering to spine and front board. Tanning to endpapers and slight foxing throughout, signs of wear to covers and spine but otherwise very good condition with tight binding.
