Through the Window was first published by The Great Western Railway Company in 1924 and reprinted up until the Second World War. This edition, including 20 GWR pages from Bradshaw’s timetable, was published in 2008, reprinted 2008, by Old House Books.
Hardback; 145 x 225 mm; dark green boards with gold titles on spine; 125 pages plus 20 GWR pages. Original unclipped dust jacket. Illustrations and maps in monochrome.
The book is in very good condition. The binding is sound. The book was published to enhance the enjoyment of passengers on the 305 mile journey from Paddington to Penzance. Maps, line drawings, and information about the towns and villages describe the glorious countryside of southern England that could be seen from the windows of The Cornish Riviera Express at that time, now nearly 100 years ago.
