The photographs selected for the volume are primarily from the files of the Farm Security Administration, including work by Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Jack Delano, Carl Mydans, Arthur Rothstein, Russell Lee, Ben Shahn, Marion Post, John Vachon, and Edwin Rosskam.
