Publisher: Sampson Low, Marston, Low & Searle, Fleet Street, London, 1874, 5th edition. Hardback, 303 pages, 112 b&w illustrations. Cover, in green half-leather with marbled boards, is in poor to fair condition commensurate with age with bumping to corners, rubbing to edges and missing spine cover. Boards are coming loose from binding. Internally the book is in poor to fair condition commensurate with age with some loose pages (although binding is generally firm), light tanning to pages throughout, a few foxing marks here and there, ink inscription and embossed address to front endpaper, a couple of water stains and a couple of creased pages. However the text pages and the 112 wonderful engraved illustrations are generally clean and clear. Price reflects condition. A fascinating and beautifully illustrated very early edition of this classic science fiction adventure novel from the great Jules Verne who, with HG Wells, surely shares the laurels as the father of science fiction writing.
