What Maisie Knew

£19.99

Product description

What Maisie Knew is a classic novel by Henry James, first published as a serial in The Chap-Book and (revised and abridged) in the New Review in 1897 and then as a book later that year. It tells the story of the sensitive daughter of divorced, irresponsible parents. The book follows the title character from earliest childhood to precocious maturity.

This edition was published by William Heinemann, London, dated 1898. There are no details of edition or impression numbers but it must be an early edition, since the book was first published by Heinemann in September 1897.

Blue board covers with gilt lettering and debossed design on front cover. Several marks on covers. Spine is worn top and bottom. Page ends are uneven and aged. A slip of paper has been glued to the inside front cover, possibly to cover an inscription. Pencil inscriptions have been erased. Generally showing its age but still a good condition copy.
