Winston Churchill's The Second World war; First editions.

£159.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This is the full set of Churchill's History of the Second World War. These are all first editions as they were published between 1948 and 1954.

The books are complete with their dust jackets. The books are generally in good condition with a little fading and foxing. One of the dust jackets has a little tearing on the spine. The first two books have written dedications in the front.

Also included is a first edition of Sinews of Peace. This is a collection of Churchill's post war speeches, published in 1948. This is slightly worn but is complete with dust jacket. Inside is the order of service for a Memorial Service for Churchill held at the American University of Beirut in 1965.

Together this charts a key period in world history. It has its flaws; it misses out on areas that were still secret such as the work on the atom bomb and the Bletchley code breakers, it can be Anglo-centric and a few personal views were given prominence, but it won Churchill the 1953 Nobel Literature Prize and made him independently wealthy.
