Product description

The book has partially blue cloth-covered boards and spine. The cloth covering on the boards only extends from the spine by about 30 mm. The remainder of the boards is covered with thick grey-brown paper that has a rippled effect on its surface. This paper has the book title in dark blue script, surrounding a small painting of a town scene somewhere in Europe. The spine has the book title and author's and publisher's names in very faint blue (assumed) script. The edge of the thick grey paper is torn where it meets the cloth covering on the front of the book. The boards and the spine show dirt marks and the boards show many water marks especially towards the bottom of the book. The corners of the book are heavily bumped and there is considerable shelf wear especially at the spine. The hinges are in good condition. The endpapers at the front and rear of the book are made from a grey-brown paper that is similar to the board covering. These endpapers depict the logo of the Southern Railway of England. The pages are reasonably well-cut and show some heavy foxing including the page edges. The book includes 15 colour paintings of scenes in Europe. These pages are pasted at the top edge onto thick grey paper. The paintings of Interlaken and Bellagio, Lake Como are missing. The book also includes several sepia ink pictures of other European scenes.
