Conservation in Central Bristol

£9.99

Product description

Conservation In Central Bristol
City of Bristol Planning Department; nd; 1981?
Soft-bound booklet; 210 x 295 mm; 36 pages. No dust jacket. Illustrations in black and white.
The booklet is in very good condition. There is no rust affecting the staples holding the booklet together. There is a mark on the back cover where a small square label was once affixed. There is some tanning of the covers internally.
Certain historic areas in Bristol’s central area faced irretrievable dereliction following the collapse of the development market in the mid 1970s. The City Council and the Historic Buildings Council for England initiated a joint conservation programme, concentrating all efforts into key areas, in an attempt to reverse the downward spiral of deterioration. The purpose of this publication was to explain the strategy, illustrate the key schemes and outline the then future aspirations of the Bristol Conservation Programme.
Printed on glossy paper, the areas covered are St Michael’s Hill and Christmas Steps; the Portland Square area of St Paul’s; Old Market; and the Dockside area around Queen Square.
The booklet will appeal to all with an interest in these particular areas, and in general to approaches to the problems and solutions of conservation issues.
