Frank Van den Harm - Pahit Manis

£12.99

Product description

1998. This book is a collection of the glass work of Frank Van den Ham interspersed with photographs from Indonesia. The limited text in in multi languages including English.
For more than thirty years Frank van den Ham works with the technique of glass fusing. He is best described as an artist that makes different worlds recognisable and aims to connect them. His fascination with Africa and the Far East and his purely Dutch roots, make him a traveller between worlds. Always in search of the additional, the complimentary, always in search of home.
Homesickness for “there” gives his work a tension and at the same time a warmth that inevitably touches the onlooker. Colourful, poetic compositions in glass, sometimes combined with other materials like wood, fabric and silver, give a surprising insight into his realm of thoughts and dreams.
The technique of fusing and kiln-forming glass is a technique that was used thousands of years ago but was forgotten and only in the 1950’s re-discovered. Van den Ham has played an important role in ensuring that this technique, that allows an exact use of colour, pattern and form, has found its place back between other glass techniques. For several years he had a studio in South Africa to teach local people these techniques.
His objects are exhibited all over the world and can be found in many museum and private collections.
This is a near fine copy of the book.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
