Richard Wentworth - Sculpture (Riverside Studios, London 18 March - 12 April 1987)

£24.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Richard Wentworth's work forms part of the New British Sculpture movement, his interest being in the juxtaposition of materials and found elements that do not belong together. Since the early 1970s he has been capturing chance encounters of oddities and discrepancies in the modern landscape in his ongoing photographic series "Making Do and Getting By". Mundane snapshots and fragments of the modern landscape are elevated to an analysis of human resourcefulness and improvisation, whereby amusing oddities that would otherwise go by unnoticed become the subject of intent contemplation.

Richard Wentworth CBE (b. 1947) is a British artist, curator and teacher, who has lived for many years in the Kings Cross area of London. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to art.

Our book, which includes Greg Hilty's long essay and Milena Kalinovska's interview with the artist, is in excellent, almost unused, condition, its stiff paper covers clean and undamaged, the binding firm, and all pages clean and bright. It is a 1st edition (limited to 1000 copies), and contains many B/W photos of the works included in the exhibition at Riverside Studios in March/April 1987.
