This book is in a very good condition with the inside pages looking to be mostly very clean, and readable with little to no blemishes at all on them. The front and back cover is still smooth and looks to be clean with a few marks to the back and some wear to the edges. The page edges look to be uneven with foxing to them.

Published in conjunction with an exhibition entitled, The Age of the Marvellous which was organized by the Hood museum of art. This book focuses on European art during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, looking at art that was consider to provoke wonderment in those that looked at it. The book along with the exhibition was used to provide an opportunity to examine Europe's fascination with the marvellous, which manifested in the arts during these periods.
