Publisher: The Museum of Modern Art, distributed by Simon and Schuster, New York, 1949. Hardback with dustjacket, 256 pages. Colour frontispiece and numerous b&w period photographs. Cover, in fawn cloth boards with black titling to spine, is in very good condition for its age with just a little bumping to spine extremities. Internally the book is in good, tight and clean condition with no inscriptions, tears, creases or marks. Light tanning to endpapers commensurate with age. The illustrated dustjacket is in fair to good (and substantially intact) condition for its age with some rubbing to edges and spine, small tears to spine extremities, a little tanning to edges and a little creasing and small tear to rear top edge. A fascinating, comprehensive and beautifully written and illustrated history of photography. Wonderful, classic period photographs, some well known and some more rare and unusual.
