Wells Coates: A Monograph by Sherban Cantacuzino

£25.00

Product description

This is a biography and critical assessment of the work of Wells Coates, architect and designed, who played a leading part in the rise of the English Modern Movement. Coates's whole career from his birth in 1895, his upbringing in Japan, his education in Canada, his move to London in 1922 and increasing involvement with design and architecture is examined.
Coates' major architectural works became ideograms for a whole generation of English architects and his importance as a pioneer of industrial design is based on his application of fundamental principles and his persistent insistence to both manufacturers and public that good design in industry plays.
The book clearly establishes his role in the development of both modern architecture and modern design.

Page edges are somewhat yellowed due to the book's age and the dust jacket is slightly bumped and scuffed. However, overall the book is in good condition.
