( full title is " Persuasion ", by Jane Austen , read by the legendary Prunella Scales )
Jane Austen's last complete work was published posthumously in 1818. It is more grave and tender, than her earlier works, with satire and ridicule taking a milder form.
"Persuasion" revolves around the 'on / off' relationship of Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth, with many family members, friends and acquaintances playing vital roles, before the pair of lovers find happiness.
As with many of Austen's works, the human qualities - in this case sadness, duplicity, misunderstanding, faithfulness and others -, feature very strongly, all woven together with some of the best writing in the English language.
