J.M. Dent &Sons 1952. Hardback with unclipped dust jacket in fair/ acceptable condition - some considerable wear/tear to jacket which has been completely torn along spine. Boards are marked/ faded with some bumping to spine and corner edges. Pages are a liitle tanned with some foxing/ marking to first few and foxing to edge of text block. There is an owners name in ink on front end paper.

This moving and evocative story of life in the Normandy countryside was Madeleine Henrey’s first book written after her flight from France in 1940 and published in 1941 under the pseudonym Robert Henrey. She later wrote the second volume about returning to the area after the war and her reunion with her mother. The two books, reissued under one cover and revised by the author present a continuous story before, during and immediately after the war. This 1952 edition appeared with the addition of “Mrs” to the author’s name
