It includes excellent literary portraits of the great artistic and political figures of the day including Edmund Burke, Joshua Reynolds, William Pitt, David Garrick and, inevitably, Samuel Johnson. Contains extensive notes on sources etc. and 11 monochrome illustrations of paintings and engravings of contemporary figures. Pictorial dust jacket, not price clipped, in very good condition. Red board covers with title etc. in gold on maroon spine. The book is clean and unmarked throughout and in virtually "as new" condition.
