No. 121 of a limited edition of 150. Subtitled 'Together with appreciations of her life and work by Charlotte Balfour, Hilaire Belloc, G. K. Chesterton, John McCallum, Nesta Sawyer, and by her husband for whom this book has been Printed'. Alice Margaret Douglas was the daughter of Sir John Douglas and Alice Ann Claughton.2 She married Edward Percy Douglas, son of Walter Douglas-Irvine and Anne Frances Lloyd, on 11 October 1918.1 She died on 1 January 1931. Margaret Douglas was a journalist, working her way up from secretary on the Daily Mail. She married and after WW1, they emigrated to a ranch in Chile, where she died in 1931. The illustrations are reproduced from pencil drawings by Sylvia Packard. There is a tipped in portrait after the title page.
No dust jacket. The hard cover has a leather bound spine which is in very poor condition and partially missing. The boards are covered with grey linen-look paper, the corners are bumped. The illustrated end papers are slightly tanned. The pages are of hand made paper and are roughly cut. They are in good condition but tanned and a little scuffed on the edges.
