The Diary of Samuel Pepys [1933]

£29.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Published in 1933 by J M Dent & Sons. Attractive deep red half-leather binding, with 5 spine bands, and gilt motif on front together with gilt lettering and decoration on the spine. Gilt top edge to the pages.

This is the 'Lord Braybooke' edition originally published in two volumes in 1854. This is one of Dent's Double Volumes so both volumes are printed in this one volume. It includes Lord Braybrooke's notes from 1854 with an introduction by Dr Richard Garnett. These additional make the reading of the diary much easier to follow, and as they are printed as footnotes one does not lose the flow of the narrative. This is a great introduction to the most famous dairies ever written.

There is prize sticker in the front confirming that this was a school prize awarded in 1936/7 with the school crest is on the front in gilt blocking.

There is some rubbing wear on the spine, but not too significant. The internal pages are in a good clean condition and the binding is sound and firm.
