The story of the Raleigh cycle

£40.00

Product description

Written by the great great grandson of the founder of Raleigh Cycles, Sir Frank Bowden, this exhaustive history covers the growth of the company, its technology, sporting prowess and evolution over the period between 1887 and 1974. Many photographs and an introduction by Alan Sillitoe. A rare first edition, the book, published in landscape format and bound in red cloth has one small blemish on the lower edge of the front cover, and is otherwise in very good condition. The jacket has dulled with age and has a small tear, (no loss), also on the lower front edge. It is illustrated on front with an early advertising photograph of a lady rider holding a Raleigh aloft, and on the reverse, a fine picture of Reg Harris, probably the best known professional racer whose exploits on the race track brought the products of the company great credit.
