In a second world war story from the viewpoint of a teenage evacuee, Hester Burton takes you into the world of a young person and makes it real. This particular copy is ex school library, but the only markings are a small school stamp and 4 digit classification number on the title page, also 2 small, red stars stamped on the upper edge of the text block near the spine. All text is clear on clean pages, there are many delightful b/w line drawings by Victor Ambrus, who also illustrated the colourful dust jacket.
