Product description

Late nineteenth century children's stories, translated by Albert Alberg from the Swedish of Zach. Topelius . Bound in royal blue cloth with gilt lettering and vignettes, with a silver vignette on the front cover. The corners and spine ends are bumped and worn and the covers have light general marks and dust-soiling. Text block edges are brightly gilt. Inside the front cover is a School Prize award plate dated March 1904, above it a former owner's name is neatly written in black ink, dated 1996. The last leaf in the book is torn along the inside edge, approx. 11cm from the bottom, the adjacent free end paper has a closed tear approx. 4.5cm. Inside pages are tanned around edges.

The stories have charming engraved b/w pictures among the text.
