Taddy Tadpole and the Pond-Folk by Olwen Bowen was first published in 1935 and reprinted in 1946, but this edition does not have a publishing date. It consists of twelve stories, including The Hatching of Taddy, Mud Pied, Fury's Fly, King Caddis Worm, Dragon Fly's Baby and others. There are seven full-page black line illustrations and several similar drawings throughout the text. A colour frontispiece is included, but has become detached and therefore damaged on the inner and front edges. All of the lovely illustrations are by L.R. Brightwell.
Taddy is bound in green cloth with 'Taddy Tadpole by Olwen Bowen' at the top of the spine and the publisher, 'Nelson', at the bottom. The colour on the spine has worn considerably and the tail is frayed. At the bottom front joint, there is an 18mm tear in the cloth. The faces are a bit grubby and the rear has three white spots. There is shelf wear on the edges and the corners are bumped. The hinges are secure, without tears, and the binding is strong. There is light foxing throughout (although the front and rear inner endpapers are covered) and some brown spots peppered on about twenty percent of the pages. There are no dog ears.
An exception to this description is the frontispieces, which is very damaged although the illustration itself is unmarked. Despite the aforementioned foxing and brown spots, the pages are otherwise clean.
