The Gingerbread Men

£29.99

Product description

The Gingerbread Men
Althea (Braithwaite)
Illustrations by Maureen Galvani
Dinosaur Publications Ltd, Over Cambridge, 1975.
Soft-bound; 260 x 220 mm; 16 unpaginated leaves. No dust jacket.
The book is in good condition. The binding is sound with only very slight rusting of the staples holding the leaves together. The spine of the book is worn. The covers show some wear and a little creasing of the edges. On the back is a mark where a small square label was once affixed. The inside of the front cover has an annotation in blue ink “J. FLATT”. The inside covers are a little tanned. There are a few marks here and there in the book.
The Gingerbread Men is one of full colour books with clear, bright illustrations and large type, suitable for children from 2 to 7. They are simple stories and factual accounts of things that happen in the world around us, in this case the world as it was in 1975. The gingerbread men go to London (trains, underground, the sights, etc), things to do (making a toy gingerbread man, paper frieze, gingerbread biscuit men), and going shopping.
The text is enhanced by the delightful illustrations by Maureen Galvani, a lover of stories, fairy tales, and folklore, who works in traditional black line, watercolour, gouache, and crayon illustrations for children.
