Product description

Enki Bilal - Le Sommeil Du Monstre
Published by Les Humanoides Associes, 1998

Enki Bilal - The Sleep of the Monster
Published by Les Humanoides Associes, 1998
Hardback, 70 pages, French

Nike Hatzfeld is thirty-three when his legendary hypertrophied memory sends him back to the very first days of his own birth. We are in 1993. Yugoslavia is dying, Bosnian Serb shells rain on Sarajevo hospital. This is where Nike shares his bed and his first days of life with Amir and Leyla, orphans like him. His destiny changes when he remembers having sworn, at the age of 18 days, to find them and "protect them always". Between his memory of 1993 and his contemporary reality of 2026, Nike Hatzfeld undergoes a brutal contraction of time, which brings him into a whirlwind of obscurantist religious apocalypse, as if the genes of his future of 2026 were written in his first breath of 1993. A macabre ball shakes the planet, boosts the world and its democracies, orchestrated by a certain Optus Warhole, self-proclaimed; "The incarnation of supreme evil" ... Nike and Leyla are found. Amir, on his side, floats with Sasha, a clumsy girl, fourth piece of a puzzle in progress.
